Joseph Paul Hawkins, 20
of Curwensville died on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Altoona Regional Health Systems – Altoona Campus.
He was born on August 31, 1988 in Philipsburg, a son of Paul and Janice (Wilson) Hawkins of Curwensville.
Joseph was currently serving in the United States Army with B Company, 35th Engineered Battalion in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
He was a member of the Curwensville Presbyterian Church. While attending the Curwensville High School, Joseph was also very active their football and wresting programs.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Christina Marie Hawkins of Curwensville,
his paternal grandmother, Ruth Ann Davich and husband Mike of Roanoke, VA,
his paternal grandfather, Max Hawkins of Redford, MI,
his grandfather, 'Pap Ed' Ed Peters of Clearfield,
five aunts and uncles and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dorothy (Ruch) and Harold Alton Wilson Sr.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Daniel T. Ledford officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the United States Army.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8:00 PM and on Thursday from 10-11:00 AM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Curwensville Football Boosters or Curwensville Wrestling Boosters in care of the Curwensville High School, 650 Beech Street, Curwensville.
