Josephine F. Calapa, 97 of Clearfield, died on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Knickerbocker Villa.
She was born on September 22, 1926 in San Giorgio, Italy, a daughter of the late Natale and Maria (Piti) Ferlazzo.
Mrs. Calapa attended Clearfield Area Schools. She managed the Ferlazzo Grocery Store, located in the East End of Clearfield, for over 45 years.
She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield.
She is survived by her sister, Marie Ferlazzo of Clearfield; two nephews, Frank Buzzanca and Nathan Ferlazzo; a niece, Carolyn Smeal; and several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph C. Calapa on June 14, 2009 and whom she wed June 15, 1962 in St. Francis Catholic Church. She was also preceded in death by sister, Flora Buzzanca; and a brother, Joseph Ferlazzo.
Mass of Christian burial will be said at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Wednesday at 11 AM with Fr. Robert Horgas as celebrant. Entombment will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
There will be no public visitation.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Francis Church, 212 South Front Street, Clearfield, PA 16830; or to Knickerbock Villa, 304 South Second Street, Clearfield, PA 16830.
