Josephine A. Leone, 86

of State College and formerly of Clearfield died on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.

She was born on July 4, 1927 in Jamaica, NY a daughter of the late Philip and Philomena (Del Veci) Palmese.

Mrs. Leone retired in 1992 from the Clearfield Area School District after 32 years of employment.
She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield

She is survived by her son, Michael Leone and his wife Karen of State College; two grandchildren, Joshua Leone and wife Michelle and Rena Leone; four great granddaughters, Addison Marie, Morgan Elizabeth, Hannah Grace and Sarah Beth; a brother, Charles Palmese of Port Richey, FL; a sister-in-law, Violet Palmese of Milwaukee, WI; two brother-in-laws, Tony Wesnewski of Levittown, NY and Frank Carnavale of Valley Stream, NY and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony 'Tony' Leone on December 19, 1992 and whom she wed October 4, 1952 in Richmond Hill, NY. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and a brother, Mary Wesnewski, Kathleen Carnavale and Anthony Palmese; and a sister-in-law, Mickey Palmese.

Mass of Christian burial will be said at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Tuesday at 10:00 am with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee Jr. as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 6 - 8 pm.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Francis Catholic Church, 212 S. Front Street, Clearfield.
