Karen Shafer

Karen Mae Shafer, 70, of DuBois passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023.

She was born on August 23, 1953 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late Robert Shafer Sr. and Lillie Mae (Faulkner) Shafer.

Karen received her Bachelors of Psychology from Mansfield University, and later received her Bachelors of Pastry Arts at Johnson and Wales University Culinary Arts School of Rhode Island. She worked in the restaurant industry for 15 years and then for 5 years in a bakery. After this she worked at the CVS Corporate Office in Rhode Island for 5 years before working at the CVS in DuBois for 18 years.

In her free time she enjoyed reading.

She is survived by her son, David Berouty Jr. and fiance Richelle of Du Bois; three grandchildren, David III, Nicholi, and Malachi; two sisters, Susan Seaburn of Detroit, MI, and Jan O'Dell-Winter and husband Richard of Linden, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Shafer, Jr.; and a sister, Shirley Ann Medford.

A memorial service will be held at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Curwensville on Saturday October 14, 2023 at 11 AM with Pastor Dean Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 - 11 AM.
