Kathy Guyan

May 11, 1966 — March 10, 2011

Kathy Ann (Hartley) Guyan, 44, of South Fayette Township, formerly of Clearfield, was called to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 10, 2001 after a 10 year courageous battle with breast cancer.
She was born on May 11, 1966 in Williamsport, a daughter of Mary (Spotts) Hartley of Clearfield and the late Truman Hartley.

Kathy was a1984 graduate of Clearfield Area High School and a proud 1988 graduate of Penn State University, where she met her husband Randy. They lived in Northern Virginia for many years before the family moved to South Fayette, just outside of Pittsburgh, in 2006. She was a devoted mother whose greatest joys were watching her three boys grow up into strong young men and attending their many activities. She never let breast cancer stop her from making her sons’ lives as normal as possible. She was an avid scrapbooker spending many hours preserving family memories. The words most used to describe her by friends are “strong”, “brave” and “inspirational”. Her smile will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

She is survived by her husband, Randy Guyan, formerly of Johnstown, whom she married on June 9, 1990; a proud mother of three sons, Christopher, Nicholas and Matthew Guyan; a mother Mary (Spotts) Hartley; a brother and two sisters, Tracy Hughes and husband James, Brian Hartley and wife Zoitsa and Tammy Walker and husband Jason; a paternal grandmother, Dorothea Hartley; a father-in-law, Ronald Guyan and wife Donna; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cynthia Rimoldi and husband John and Richard Guyan; and eight nieces and 6 nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Truman Hartley, and a mother-in-law, Sharon Guyan.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Tuesday at 11 AM with family friend Fr. Godfrey Mullen officiating. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 5-8 PM and on Tuesday from 10-11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the “Guyan Boys Education Fund”, c/o PNC Bank, 3085 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, PA 15017.
