Kenneth Maines

Kenneth E. Maines, 83, of Clearfield died on Friday, June 1, 2007 at his residence.

He was born on November 6, 1923 in Shawville, a son of the late Oswalt and Ruth (Buck) Maines.

Mr. Maines was a member of the International Union Operating Engineers Local 66 and was a self employed heavy equipment operator.
He attended the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church and was a member of the Chinklacamoose Square Dance Club and the Susquehanna CB Club.
A veteran of the US Army, he served during World War II.

He is survived by two children, Gloria Gloss and husband Pastor John Gloss of Hastings and Larry Maines and wife Barb of Clearfield; four grandchildren, Melonie Maines, Tracie Sheesley and husband Brian, Amy Kirsch and husband Adam, Kenneth Gloss and wife Olivia; 8 great-grandchildren; six brothers and sisters, Walter 'Tex' Maines of VA, Alice Redford and husband Joe of OR, Rebecca Litz and husband Raymond of Kellytown, Dorothy 'Dot' Roseman of NY, Paul 'Pete' Maines of Woodland and Jeannette Harris of Lock Haven; numerous nieces and nephews; and his companion, Ada Lumadue of Woodland.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine O. (McCracken) Maines on November 6, 2001 and whom he married January 15, 1946, a great grandson Adam Wesley Kirsch, a brother Wesley Maines and a sister Betty (Maines) Green.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor John Gloss officiating. Interment will follow in the Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.

Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the members of the Clearfield American Legion Post #6 and Clearfield VFW Post #1785.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM and on Tuesday from 10-11:00 AM.
