L. Shafer

August 22, 1919 — April 24, 2005

L. Mae Shafer, 85 of 540 Bressler Road, Curwensville died on Sunday, April 24, 2005 at Clearfield Hospital.

She was born on August 22, 1919 in Ashland, a daughter of the late James C. and Elizabeth Belle (Mitchell) Faulkner.

Mrs. Shafer was a homemaker and was employed at the Clearfield Hospital from 1940-1941. She was a 1938 graduate of Clearfield High School and was a member of the Curwensville Presbyterian Church where she had perfect attendance in Sunday School for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Rhoda Rebekah Lodge.

She is survived by her husband, Robert R. Shafer, Sr. whom she married April 26, 1941 in The Presbyterian Church, Clearfield.

She is also survived by four children, Robert Shafer, Jr. of Curwensville, Susan Seaburn of Detroit, MI, Janice O’Dell-Winter and husband Richard Winter of Linden and Karen Shafer of DuBois, four grandchildren, Michael O'Dell, Gregory Seaburn, Beth Taggart, Dawn Seaburn, nine great grandchildren, a brother and two sisters, Jesse W. Faulkner of Burt, NY, Louise Hockman of Parlin, NJ, Lois Riddle of Clearfield and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Elsie Marie Faulkner, Jean Straw and Margaret Knepp and brothers, James and Donald Faulkner.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Daniel T. Ledford officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 10 - 11:00 AM

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Curwensville Presbyterian Church, 430 Locust Street, Curwensville.
