The Last Hurrah

Larry K. ‘Mo’ Moyer, 71, of Clearfield, died on Tuesday, September 15th, 2020 at his home.

He was born on December 24th, 1948 in Clearfield, the son of the late Lawrence E. Moyer and Carolyn B. (Maney) Moyer. He graduated in 1966 from Clearfield Area High School and went on to serve in the Army during the Vietnam era as a calibration specialist.

Larry and his father started Moyer's Auto Body in 1976 and in the early 70’s Larry formed the Moyer’s Auto Body fastpitch softball team which won many Old Town Softball League Championships. In the mid 1970’s, Larry along with his dear friend Mike Hart, started the Best of Friends Golf Tournament that continues annually at Clearfield Curwensville Country Club. He was a member of the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post No.6 and the Clearfield VFW F. Michael Sicks Post No. 1785.

He is survived by his wife, Kate Thompson, whom he married April 12th, 1995. He is also survived by his children; Aaron Williams (Nikki), Allison Cossick (Tommy), his grandchildren; Hayden Mathew Willliams, Ruby Anne Cossick, Wiley Barton Cossick, and Thomas Quentin Cossick. He is survived by brother; Jim Moyer (Michelle) and nephew Michael Moyer (Kayla), brother-in-law Dan Smith, niece Jessica Rowles (Cory), great-nephew Maynard (Weidman) and great-niece Mia (Rowles). Larry was preceded in death by his sister Lorine A. ‘Lori’ (Moyer) Smith.

Larry loved golfing. He loved ALL music and movies; old black and white films, The Big Bang Theory and the History Channel; especially Ancient Aliens, and his all time favorite actress was Myrna Loy. He was a proud supporter of the Dallas Cowboys and the St. Louis Cardinals and he enjoyed times spent at Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub, Buster’s, and Legend’s Sports Bar.

Larry had inscribed “BIG” inside he and wife Kate’s wedding bands which would ultimately represent their love and the times they shared. He loved talking sports with Aaron and swapping spicy meats and cheeses, talking music with Nikki, and loved talking with Hayden about any of his sporting activities. Larry passed on his love of photography and cooking with Allison and they loved nothing more than making a mess in the kitchen; they were true partners in crime. He loved talking with Tommy about flying and was forever questioning him on whether or not he ever saw a UFO. He loved snacking, watching movies and endless drawing with Ruby, Wiley and Thomas. Poppi enjoyed teaching all four of his grandchildren how to drive his golf cart and respecting the rules of golf. His absolute love and unrelenting patience for all “his kids” will carry on forever.

A Celebration of Life will be at the convenience of the family.
