Larry F. Smith, 86, of Goshen passed away on February 21, 2025, at the Penn Highlands Clearfield
He was born March 25, 1938, at his family farm in Goshen, the son of the late Clark and Irene (McLaughlin) Smith. He spent his childhood working on the farm.
Larry graduated from Clearfield High School and was very active with the FFA.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator in the strip mines for 47 years. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting coins, and antique cars. He also enjoyed woodworking and would travel to craft shows with his wife to sell the crafts they made.
Mr. Smith served in Germany with the U.S. Army.
He is survived by a daughter, Polly McQuillen of Morrisdale; two sons, Hal Smith and wife Kathy of Goshen and Dean Smith of Shawville; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Hazel Slater, Clyde Smith, Ruth Bechtel, Lora Layton, Gene Smith, and Rosemary Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley R. (Hoffer) Smith on May 22, 2018 whom he wed September 19, 1964 at the Shawville United Methodist Church. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Hauck, and Clara McNeal; and a brother, Frank Smith.
A funeral service will be held at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Clearfield on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 12 PM.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 AM - 12 PM.
Interment will be in the Goshen Cemetery.
