Larry F. Welch, 73, of Olanta passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at the Ridgeview Elder Care and Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville after a long battle with heart disease.
He was born on October 20, 1950 in Clearfield, a son of the late Floyd 'Slim' and Helen (Welker) Welch.
Larry graduated from Curwensville High School. He then went to work for the former Clearfield Cheese Co., then was employed by Shale Hill Coal Co. for many years before retiring from Pike Twp. where he served as a Supervisor. Upon retirement, Larry became the "firewood guy" and delivered firewood to many people.
He was a lifelong member of the Glen Richey Fire Co. where he served as an officer for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Ruth (Andrews) Welch whom he wed February 5, 1972; two sisters, Dorothy Passmore and husband Robert of Olanta, and Kimberly Selfridge and husband William of Woodland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Beatrice Kukla and Shirley White.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Thompson Cemetery.
