Launa Barchinger

Launa S. 'Lea' Barchinger, 89, of Hyde died on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at the Penn Highlands Clearfield.

She was born on October 28, 1926 in Cosby, TN, a daughter of the late Dallas and Daisy (Baxter) Shultz.

Mrs. Barchinger retired from Kent Sportswear after many years of service. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Clearfield where she taught third grade Sunday School. She was a lifetime member of the Hyde Fire Hall Co. Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of the Red Hat Ladies Society, Clearfield. She was also the superintendent of the Art Department at the Clearfield County Fair for 8 years, a Girl Scout leader from the ranks of Daisies to Cadets and volunteered at the Clearfield Hospital.

She is survived by three children, Ed Boruff and wife Jerrie of Walland, TN, Connie Dunn and husband Steven of Gates, NC and Sundae Leigh Lloyd and husband Gary of Hyde; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a sister, Nora Lee Childress of Knoxville, TN; a brother, Conard Shultz and wife Marie of Knoxville, TN; and five step children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Carl Barchinger on May 31, 2008 and whom she wed June 15, 1974 in Winston Salem, NC. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Boruff; a son, Aubrey G. Sharp; a sister, Mary Ann Brewer; and a brother, Preston Shultz.

A memorial service will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Clearfield on Tuesday at 2 PM with Rev. Robert Stump officiating. Burial will take place in the Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.

Friends will be received at the church on Tuesday from 1-2 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Trinity United Methodist Church-Sneaker Closet, 121 North Second Street, Clearfield.
