Leon Bauer

Leon F. 'Squeaky' Bauer, 90, of Frenchville died on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at his home.

He was born on April 4, 1924 in Saint Marys, a son of the late Norman and Hilda (Pontzer) Bauer.

He served with the US Army in Germany during WWII.
He was employed with Pure Carbon Co. of Saint Marys for thirty years, retiring in 1984.

He is survived by his longtime friend and companion, Leona (Beauseigneur) Davis of Frenchville; a sister, Malene Wegemer of Casper, WY; a brother, George Bauer of Saint Marys; several nieces and nephews; and his trusted dog, Brady.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Clara Pontzer; his wife, Edna (Grotzinger) Bauer; and two sisters, Mary Martha Lenze and Clarice 'Tootie' Bauer.

Mass of Christian burial will be said at the St. Mary's Church, Saint Marys, PA, on Friday at 10 AM with Fr. Alfred Patterson, O.S.B. as celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Saint Marys, PA.

Military honors will be accorded at cemetery by the members of the Saint Marys Burial Detail.

At the request of Mr. Bauer, there will be no public viewing.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Community Nurses, Inc., 757 Johnsonburg Road, Suite 200, Saint Marys, PA 15857 or Clearfield Foundation for Health - Hospice, PO Box 992, Clearfield, PA 16830 or to the charity of one's choice.

The Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield is in charge of the arrangements.
