LeRoy B. Plubell, 85, of LeContes Mills died on Monday, May 14, 2007 at Clearfield Hospital.
He was born on January 4, 1922 in Frenchville, a son of the late Frank and Cordelia (Verbeck) Plubell.
Mr. Plubell was a self employed contractor. In addition, he was employed by Moshannon Falls Coal Mines and the former Piper Aircraft.
A veteran of the US Army, he served during WW II.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Frenchville and the Clearfield Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 812.
He was also a member and past commander of the Leigey Renaud Post # 8386 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Frenchville and served on the honor guard.
In addition, he was a member of the Mosquito Creek Sportsmens Club and the Sinnemahoning Sportsmens Club.
He is survived by his wife, Leola O. (Smith) Plubell, whom he wed June 30, 1951 in Frenchville; six children, Gary L. Plubell and wife Gwen of Bigler, Gregory J. Plubell of Lebanon, Gail M. Stiner and husband Raymond of LeContes Mills, Suzette D. Plubell of LeContes Mills, Rhonda K. McGovern and husband Douglas of Frenchville, Mark A. Plubell and fiance Andrea Childs of Clearfield, RD; 11 grandchildren, Mindy Sawtelle, Megan Plubell, Jacob Hudak, Stephen Plubell, Noah Stiner, Ronece Ruiz, Kendra Overmyer, Kurt McGovern, Kenzie MccGovern, Randee Plubell and Leann Plubell; 6 great-grandchildren, Keirsten Sawtelle, Kylan Sawtelle, Zachary Plubell, Crae Ruiz, Adelyn Ruiz and Rebekah Stiner; 3 step grandchildren, Aron Jordon, Terry Jordon, and Travis Garner; 2 step great-grandchildren; three sisters, Isabelle Renaud of Frenchville, Mildred English of Morrisdale, June Folmar and husband John of Vestal, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Robert, Henry, Clyde and James Plubell.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Mary Catholic Church, Frenchville on Friday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Samuel G. Bungo as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Frenchville.
Military honors will be accorded by the members of the Frenchville VFW Honor Guard.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Thursday from 6-9:00 PM and at the church on Friday from 10-11:00 AM
A Christian Vigil Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 5:45 PM.
