Leroy Snyder

LeRoy A. “Sneezy” Snyder, 92, of Grampian died on Friday, July 6, 2007 at his residence.

He was born on August 30, 1914 in Chestnut Grove, a son of the late Howard and Edith (Drummond) Snyder.

Mr. Snyder was a press operator for the North American Refractories for 20 years before retiring in 1976. Prior to that he served as the head cook in the Cheese Plant for 15 years. In his spare time LeRoy also delivered house coal for nearly 50 years. He was a member of the Faith Bible Church in Lumber City, and was also a 7th degree member of the Penn Grange #534

He is survived by six children, Andy Snyder, James "Huck" Snyder and wife Marie, Dorothy Johnston and husband Duane, and Becky L. Snyder, all of Grampian, Elizabeth Ann Reid of Hyde and Kathi Streich of St. Mary's; 10 grandchildren, Richard Snyder and wife Florie, Jeff Snyder and wife Yumino , Michael Snyder, Stephanie Kendrick and husband Joseph, Dennis Johnston, Erin Wood and husband Rich, Kevin Snyder, Renee Streich, Rick Streich and Mike Hollabaugh and wife Melissa; and 5 great grandchildren, Melanie Snyder, Jon-Jon Snyder, Tod Streich, Jakob Richard Kendrick and Zane Thomas Wood.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth A. (Wall) Snyder, on January 1, 1982 and whom he married June 27, 1937 in Erie, a son Richard A. Snyder; a daughter Judy L. Snyder; brothers, Bill, Burt, Clay, Delphin, John and Henry; sisters, Verna, Cora, Mabel, Alma and Virginia; a daughter-in-law Donna Snyder; a son-in-law Richard Streich; and his companion M. Elizabeth Matthews.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Scott Schultz and Rev. Harold Harry officiating. Interment will follow in the Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Grampian.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday and Tuesday from 3-8:00 pm and on Wednesday from 9-11:00 A.M.
