Leslie Sylvan Spencer, 88

of 502 Bloomington Avenue, Curwensville died on Monday, July 21, 2003 at his residence.

He was born on December 5, 1914 in Johnstown, PA, a son of the late Leslie Sylvan and Hannah Mae (Johnson) Spencer.

A graduate of Girard College High School, Mr. Spencer was employed with IBM in Johnson City, New York as an engineer manager. He furthered his education at Syracuse University earning his Bachelors of Science in 1962 and his Masters Degree in 1967. He was a professor at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania from May 1, 1967 until his retirement on December 31, 1979.
Mr. Spencer was a member of the Noble Lodge No. 480 Free and Accepted Masons, Curwensville. He had served in the United States Army having attained the rank of Lieutenant.

He is survived by these children,

John David Spencer Lexington, KY
Francis R. Spencer
Dawn Joyce Spencer NY
Judith Rogers and husband Hill Rogers CA

six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Leslie S. Spencer, Jr. and a brother G. Leo Spencer.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville on Friday at
2:00 P.M. with Pastor Michael P. Hontz officiating. Interment will follow in the Friends Cemetery, Grampian.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 1-2:00 PM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Girard College High School Alumni Association c/o GCAA 2101 S. College Ave. #605, Philadelphia, PA 19121-4865.
