Letitia Ogden

Letitia Y. Ogden, 79, of Clearfield died on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at her home.

She was born on June 5, 1931 in Altoona, a daughter of the late William James and Laura Catherine (Fleming) Young.

Mrs. Ogden was employed as an elementary and middle school teacher for 19 years for the Clearfield Area School District. She was a member of the Mt. Joy United Methodist Church, Clearfield where she played the organ and piano, led the bell choir and sang in the choir. She was a past president and member of the Clearfield Area School Board. She was also a former member of the State College Choral Society.

She is survived by her husband, James Carlisle 'Carl’ Ogden, whom she wed September 2, 1950 in Clarion; three children, William Ogden and wife Denise of Clearfield, Victoria Wootton of Clearfield, Catherine Young Phoenixville; six grandchildren, Steven and Jennifer Ogden, Sarah Hawes, David and Rebecca Glass, Lucy Aiken; many great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son James Ogden; a granddaughter Amanda Ogden; two brothers James and John Young and two sisters Vera Wood and Margot Rommell.

Funeral services will be held at the Mount Joy United Methodist Church, Clearfield on Thursday at 11 AM with Rev. Kenneth J. Leonard officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Joy Cemetery, Clearfield.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and at church on Thursday from 10-11 AM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Mount Joy United Methodist Church, 1727 Mt. Joy Road, Clearfield; Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, 2nd Floor, Bethesda, MD 20814; or the Clearfield Foundation for Health-Hospice, PO Box 992, Clearfield.
