Levon 'Red' F. Renaud Sr., 97, of Clearfield died on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.
He was born on July 22, 1923 in Frenchville, a son of the late Elmer and Mary (McDermott) Renaud.
Mr. Renaud was involved with the construction of Parker Dam. He also worked as a crane operator for many years at Novey's. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening and taking care of his yard, listening to country music and watching polka on TV, and spending time with his beloved cat, Trigger. He was a diehard fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates.
He was a member of Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post #6.
He was Catholic by faith.
Mr. Renaud served with the U. S. Army during World War II and was a Prisoner of War for 14 months.
He is survived by his three daughters, Mary Swanson of Woodland, Francis Smeal and husband Terrance of Morrisdale, and Donna Stark and husband Tom of Clearfield; four grandchildren, Robin Miller, Nicole Skelly, Billie Jo Riggleman, and Brittany Stark; five great-grandchildren, Alicia Stiles, Luke Miller, Lauren Skelly, Quinn Skelly, and Colin Skelly; a sister, Josephine Ollivett of California; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Violet L. (Irwin) Renaud on September 13, 2007 and whom he wed July 22, 1954 in Frenchville. He was also preceded in death by a son, Levon F. Renaud, Jr.; a grandson, Levon F. Renaud, III; three brothers, Carl Renaud, Leo Renaud, and James Renaud; and five sisters, Annie Davis, Dorothy Adams, Louise Mitchell, Emma Irwin, and Loretta Howard.
Funeral services will be held at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Clearfield on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 1 PM with Fr. David A. Perry Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Centre Cemetery, Hyde.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 AM - 1 PM.
