Lewis W. Gormont, 80, of Frenchville died on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center.
He was born on February 4, 1932 in Frenchville, a son of the late Ferdie and Katherine (Billotte) Gormont.
Mr. Gormont was employed in the field of Utilities Forestry for 33 years.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Frenchville and the Knights of Columbus #8701, Morrisdale. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Leigey Renaud Post #8386, Frenchville and the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post #6. In addition, Mr. Gormont was a life member of the Mosquito Creek Sportsmen's Club, Frenchville as well as a member of the National Rifle Association.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing also loved working on his tree farm. Mr. Gormont was a US Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Lena C. (Kovalick) Gormont whom he wed July 28, 1951 in Frenchville; seven children Ann Marie Butler and husband James of Frenchville, Marilyn Condon and husband Joseph of West Finley, Amy Williamson and husband James of Philipsburg, Marlene Apostolico and husband James of Allentown, Martin Gormont and wife Natalie of Grassflat, Michael Gormont and wife Debbie of Frenchville and Mark Gormont and wife Tracy of Philipsburg; twenty six grandchildren; four step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; four sisters Loretta Greenland and husband Jim of Karthaus, Faye Kurtz of Indiana, Victoria Brooks and husband Bill of Frenchville and Sharon Gormont of Frenchville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Ferdinand Gormont.
Mass of Christian burial will be said at the St. Mary Catholic Church, Frenchville, on Wednesday at 11 AM with Rev. David A. Perry Jr. and Father Philip Billotte as co-celebrants. Interment will follow in the Saint Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Frenchville.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Leigey Renaud Post 8386, Frenchville.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Tuesday from 4-8 PM.
