Linda B. Rhone, 79, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Clearfield, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Garvey Manor Nursing Home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born in Indiana, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Harold and Zelda (Miller) Brummert.
Surviving are two sons: Gary Rhone and his wife, Roseann, of Altoona, and Jeffrey Rhone and his wife, Chris, of Hamden, Connecticut; two grandchildren: Alyssa Rhone (Justin) and Jordan Rhone of Altoona; a sister: Barbara Garman (Keith) of Clearfield; and two nephews: Bryan (Karen) Garman and their daughters Siena and Oriana and nephew Bradley Garman.
Linda was a 1960 graduate of Clearfield High School. She attended Hartman Airline Personnel School, working for Eastern Air Lines before returning to Clearfield as a loyal employee at The Progress newspaper. She was a parishioner of St. Francis Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of the Rosary and Altar Society, and formerly the “We R Survivors” Women’s Cancer Support Group of DuBois.
Linda enjoyed watching movies at The Ritz theater and attending plays at the CAST arts center. She loved baking cookies, going to the Senior Center, and volunteering as an election day poll worker. Above all, her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She inspired many while showing grace and courage in the face of adversity.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said at the St. Francis Catholic Church on Friday at 10 AM with Fr. Brandon Kleckner as celebrant. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Friends will be received at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Clearfield on Thursday from 4-7 PM and on Friday from 9-9:30 AM.
A Christian Vigil service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 3:45 PM.
