Lorana Hipps

Lorana "Dede" Hipps, 92, of Clearfield died on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.

She was born on June 10, 1914 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late Charles L. and Ella (McClelland) Hallock.

Mrs. Hipps retired in 1982 from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation District 2-0, Clearfield.
At the age of 55, she attended and completed courses at the Clearfield County Vo-Tech.
She was a member of The Presbyterian Church, Clearfield, the John Lewis Shade Post #6 Auxiliary of the American Legion, Clearfield, the Old Town Grandmothers Club and a member of Coderie. She loved gardening and sewing.

She is survived by six children, Barbara Lewis and husband Thomas of St. Marys, Merlyn Knepp and husband Gerald of Loudon, TN, Janice Rowles and husband Donald of Clearfield, Richard Hipps of Clearfield, Jackie Anderson and husband Brian of Frenchville, and John Hipps and wife Rhonda of Mifflinville; a daughter-in-law, Carole Hipps of Punxsutawney; 25 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren; a brother, Clair Hallock of Clearfield; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John E. Hipps in January of 1967, a daughter Susan Lynne Hipps, a son William Hipps, a daughter-in-law Mary Lou Hipps, a granddaughter Carole Rowles, a grandson Richard Hipps, a sister, Marie Brandenburg, three brothers, Frederick, George and Charles Hallock and her special friend Clifford 'Gig' Mann.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. with Richard B. Barkley officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM and on Saturday from 10-11:00 AM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Clearfield Foundation for Health – Hospice or Home Health, P.O. Box 992, Clearfield, or The Presbyterian Church, 119 N. Second St., Clearfield, or Meals on Wheels % Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging, Inc., P.O. Box 550, Clearfield.
