Louis K. Carns, 74, of Clearfield passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at his home.
He was born on July 13, 1949 in Clearfield, a son of the late Max E. and Armella Z. (Kester) Carns.
Mr. Carns served with the US Marines in Vietnam. He was a Lance Corporal with the E Company, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division. Upon his return from Vietnam, Louis enlisted with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard where he served in Operation Desert Storm with the 3623rd Maintenance Co. He retired from the National Guard as a First Sergant.
Louis worked at the Clearfield Armory for the Department of Military Affairs in the maintenance department. He was known as a "junker" and collected many, many items as his favorite hobby. He also enjoyed sitting on his front porch swing and spending time with his family. Louie was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved to say one of his famous catchphrases, "How bout them Cowboys?!"
He was a member of the Hyde Volunteer Fire Company, Clearfield Fire Department, and Old Town Sportsmen's Club.
He is survived by his daughter, Sally Carns of Clearfield; four grandchildren, Lucy Norris, Tallin Norris, Molly Kessler, and Louie Kessler; and his fiance, Debbie Folmar.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Renee A. Kessler; two brothers, Max Carns, and Gene Carns; and a sister, A. Jane Legiey.
A visitation will be held at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Clearfield on Friday, May 3, 2024 from 3-5 PM.
Military Honors will be accorded at the funeral home.
