Madalene Rowles

Madalene G. Rowles, 91 of Curwensville and formerly of Olanta died on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.

She was born on June 21, 1918 in Olanta, a daughter of the late Carl and Eloise (Ruffhead) Snyder.

Mrs. Rowles was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Oak Ridge Union Church and the Bible Class of the church. She was also a member of the New Millport Women's Club, the Olanta Grange No. 715, the Olanta Lutheran Bible Class, the Glen Richey Fireman's Auxiliary, the Glen Richey Sportsman's Auxiliary and a Sixth Degree member of the Pomona Grange No. 33. In addition, she participated in the Wednesday craft class at the Curwensville Civic Center.

She is survived by two daughters,
Adaline Bloom of York
Viola Barrett of Curwensville

four grandchildren, three great grandchildren,
one step granddaughter, four step great-grandchildren, three step great great grandchildren

and a sister,
Evelyn Davis of Clearfield

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest E. 'Jiggs' Rowles on September 2, 1991 and whom she married September 10, 1940 in Mahaffey, a grandson and three sisters, Florence Marie Snyder, Lillian Klusak and Kathryn Snyder.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville on Friday at 1:00PM with Pastor Douglas A. Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Olanta.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from Noon to 1:00 PM.
