Madeline Sawtelle

Madeline V. Sawtelle, 84 of Clearfield died on Monday, September 21, 2009 at Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.
She was born on March 18, 1925 in Philipsburg, a daughter of the late Thomas and Myrtle Mae McGonigal.
Mrs. Sawtelle was a homemaker.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Clearfield where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and belonged to the Willing Workers class.
She is survived by her husband, John W. Sawtelle, whom she wed March 14, 1947 in Philipsburg,
three children,
John Sawtelle, Jr. and wife Peggy of Clearfield
Jane Gorman and husband Richard of Clearfield
Ron Sawtelle and wife Judy of Olanta
seven grandchildren,
John Sawtelle, III and Jacqueline Sawtelle, Mary Beth and Amy Gorman, Scott Sawtelle,
Bethany Keil and Karen Barrett,
eleven great grandchildren,
and a sister,
Shirley Centra Geiser of Worthington
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Henrietta Ellis, Cora Askey, Joyce Butlin and Wilda Shufran and two brothers, Walter and Clyde McGonigal.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield with Pastor Sallie Swenson officiating. Internment will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 705 Dorey St., Clearfield, PA 16830.
