Marie Harris

March 22, 1917 — January 27, 2012

The Clearfield Hobby Garden Club will miss Marie (Duga) Harris at their next meeting and The Clearfield Fair will have four or five extra blue and red ribbons she would normally have taken back to Hyde.

Marie “Mae” is now with her husband Harry helping to till The Lords Garden. She passed from this life peacefully early Friday morning in her suite at Clearfield Colonial Courtyard.

Mrs. Harris, 94, was born on March 22, 1917 in Grassflat, a daughter of the late Steve and Anna (Grega) Duga.

She retired in 1983 after 22 years of service with the Clearfield Area School District. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Clearfield, ELCA and the Hobby Garden Club.

She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Ann Rogers and her husband Bud of Fairfield, Adams County, a granddaughter, Kerensa Leigh Vandegriff and her husband Todd of Fayetteville, Franklin County and two great granddaughters, Brynn Elise and Addison Reese Vandegriff.
Marie is also survived by a brother, Andrew Duga and his wife Lois of Hyde.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry W. Harris on February 2, 1999 and whom she married November 17, 1945 in Grassflat; two sisters, Anna and Helen Duga and three brothers, John and infant twins, Mike and Steve Duga.

Funeral services will be held at Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Robert J. Way officiating. A viewing from 10:00 til 11:00 A.M. will precede the service and interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
