Marie Schmoke

April 1, 1925 — July 7, 2021

Marie 'Ann' Schmoke, 96, of Milesburg, formerly of Pine Glen, died on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.

She was born on April 1, 1925 in Keewaydin, a daughter of the late Clark and Bessie (Mignot) Flood.

After graduating from Clearfield High School, Ann began working at Westinghouse Corporation in New Jersey as a parachute packer during the war effort. She was then a stay at home mom for a number of years until she became a cook at Pine Glen Elementary School for many years until her retirement in 1983. Mrs. Schmoke loved to read and participated in the Centre County Books by Mail Program. She also enjoyed doing hand stichwork, and even made some of her own clothes. She loved Penn State Football and also enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Pirates.

One of Ann's favorite things to do was to feed and watch the hummingbirds outside of her window, which brought her much joy. She was an amazing cook and known for her stuffing balls around the holidays. She took care of her family and loved them dearly.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Frenchville; a charter member of the Pine Glen Fire Company Women's Auxiliary; and a strong supporter of the Quehanna Lion's Club with her husband.

She is survived by two sons, Peary J. Schmoke and wife Cathy of Pine Glen, and David L. Schmoke and wife Cindy of Verbank, NY; six grandchildren, Donald, Matt, Brian, Tim, Steven, and Melissa; two great-grandsons, Adam and Hudson; a sister, Joyce Salmond of Marietta, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley C. Schmoke on June 29, 2001 and whom she wed August 1, 1945. She was also preceded in death by son, Joseph Schmoke; daughter, Theresa Buttaccio; grandson, Douglas Buttaccio; two brothers, Theodore Flood and Andrew Flood; and two sisters Rosalie Saye and Carolyn Bader.
