Marion A. Bortot, 93, of Clearfield died on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at her residence.
She was born on December 16, 1916 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late Weaver C. and Nettie (Logan) Conklin.
Mrs. Bortot was a homemaker. She was previously employed by the Tuberculosis Society for five years and the Clearfield Hospital in the dietary office for five years. Also, she was employed by the Department of Public Assistance and the Dumont Airplane and Marine Co., Hyde during World War II.
She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, the Rosary and Altar Society of the church and the Catholic Daughters of America. She was also a charter member of the Clearfield Business and Professional Women's Club and a past member of the Third Ward Hose Company Auxiliary.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Helen Hipps of Clearfield and Margaret Ann Hand and husband Edward of Clearfield; six grandchildren, Christina Marie Hipps and husband Mike Rowles, Thomas Orrin Hipps, Edward V. Hand Jr. and wife Christina, Brian and Jason Hand, all of Clearfield andElizabeth Cartwright and husband Don of Ramey; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Orrin L. Bortot on March 10, 2010 and whom she married January 28, 1939 in Clearfield, an infant son John Orrin Bortot, a great grandson Caleb Matthew Hand and a sister Beatrice Davis.
Mrs. Bortot was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
A Memorial Mass will be said at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Thursday at 10 A.M. with Msgr. Henry L. Krebs as celebrant.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Clearfield Foundation for Health-Hospice, PO Box 992, Clearfield.
