Marjorie Lee

July 26, 1925 — March 9, 2021

Marjorie Venoy Wright Lee went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 9th, 2021 at Penn Highlands Hospital, Clearfield.

Born July 26, 1925 in Clearfield County, she was the daughter of Horace Clinton and Jessie Garnet (Rummel) Wright. Marjorie graduated from Mahaffey High School, Class of 1946.

From early childhood, she acquired a great passion for literature that would carry with her throughout her entire life. She was a freelance writer and enjoyed researching and documenting information about history. A particular interest of hers was writing articles about the Amish, as she spent a portion of her life in Lancaster County. She also loved researching Post Civil War History, specifically the Grand Army of Republic and the Pennsylvania 1st Rifles of the Bucktails. In addition, she published many articles related to local history. She was an avid golfer and spent many of winters in Hilton Head, SC. She was also involved in numerous golf and charitable events while living in Treasure Lake, DuBois. She loved the outdoors and all living things. Marjorie was a kind, loving, compassionate person with a heart of gold, always generous and giving to those she encountered. She touched so many lives and was such an inspiration to those who were fortunate enough to know and love her. Her spirited, joyful laughter will forever echo.

She is survived by a sister, Peggy Passmore of Johnstown and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph J. Lee; six brothers, Stanley, Ross, Harold, Robert, Henry, and John Wright; and seven sisters, Twila Narehood, Della Cerwinsky, Wilma Pearce, Laura Kitchen, Florence Bracken, Jeanne Duclose, and Carolyn Kovall.

Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Clearfield.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Joseph and Elizabeth Shaw Public Library, Clearfield or the Clearfield County Historical Society.
