Martha Showden

Martha J. Showden, 76, of Clearfield died on Friday, March 29, 2013 at the Colonial Courtyard, Clearfield.

She was born on December 4, 1936 in Philipsburg, a daughter of the late John W. and Frances (Hodgemoore) Moore.

Mrs. Showden was a homemaker and a caregiver to many local residents. She was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Karthaus where she taught Sunday School for many years and belonged to ELCA. She was also affiliated with St. John's Lutheran Church, Clearfield.

She is survived by her son, Robert L. Showden and wife Bernice of Frenchville; a step-granddaughter, Brandy Hoover; a step great grandson, Lincoln Hoover; two sisters, Mary Ann Watson of Clearfield and Helen Louise Moore of Punxsutawney; a brother, William David Moore of Karthaus; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Showden on February 6, 2003 and whom she wed July 8, 1954 in Keewaydin Lutheran Church. She was also preceded in death by a half brother, Robert L. Potter; and two nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Karthaus on Wednesday at 11 AM with Rev. Matthew M. Finney officiating. Interment will follow in the Gillingham Cemetery, Frenchville.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and at the church on Wednesday from 10-11 AM.
