Mary J. Dixon, 83

of Clearfield died on Friday, August 1, 2008 at Clearfield Hospital.

She was born on April 16, 1925 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late George W. and Hazel E. (Price) Shillenn.

Mrs. Dixon retired from the Riverside Market in Clearfield.
She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield and the Altar and Rosary Society of the Church. She was also a member of the ladies auxiliary of the American Legion John Lewis Shade Post No. 6, the Eight and Forty, the ladies auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 812, the Bradford Grange No. 1219 and the Patriotic Order of Americans. In addition, she belonged to the Clearfield Women's Club and was a volunteer at the Clearfield Hospital.

She is survived by three children; Dr. Dennis G. Dixon and wife Marjorie of Wyoming, DE, Kathy Ogden and husband Glen of Chesterland, OH and Susan Taraila and husband Raymond of Dover, DE.

Her nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren were a source of great pride and joy for grandma.

She is also survived by her loving sister and constant companion, Kathleen M. Shillenn Clearfield, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Dixon on September 6, 1999.

Mary cherished the time spent with her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother and never hesitated to brag about her kids. Mom will be greatly missed by her children and their families.

Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Tuesday at 10:00 AM with Rev. Joseph C. Campbell as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.

At the request of Mrs. Dixon, there will be no public visitation.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
