Mary Frantz

Mary Louise Frantz, 90 of Clearfield died on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at her residence.

She was born on April 21, 1918 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late Dr. J. Paul and Mary (Graff) Frantz.

During her last 21 working years, she was employed by McKeesport Hospital as Administrative Laboratory Director. Under her supervision the following schools were made available at the hospital: Clinical Laboratory Assistant, Medical Technician coordinating with Allegheny Community College, School of Medical Technology coordinating with Pennsylvania State University, Indiana State University and California State University.
She was a graduate of Clearfield High School and Hood College and University of Pennsylvania School of Medical Technology.
She was a co-founder of the League of Intravenous Education Society and the Pennsylvania Histology Society.
In addition, she was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church, Clearfield.

She is survived by a sister,
Susan Johnson and husband Richard of Wethersfield, CT

and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Martha Frantz Crago and two brothers, J. Paul Frantz, Jr. and John 'Jack' Frantz.

Funeral services will be held at the St. John Lutheran Church, Clearfield on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Matthew C. Holbert officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Clearfield.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Monday from
5 - 8 PM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. John Lutheran Church, 217 E. Pine Street, Clearfield.
