Mary Hryn

Mary Susan Hryn, 62, of Curwensville passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Penn Highlands, Clearfield

She was born on January 30, 1961, a daughter of the late John and Rosemary (McKeown) Hryn of Curwensville.

Mary Sue was a graduate of Curwensville Area High School and Lock Haven University. Semi-retired, she was employed as a substitute teacher at the Curwensville Area Jr.-Sr. High School. A woman of strong faith, she was a member of St. Timothy's Catholic Church in Curwensville. She also attended St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Clearfield. She volunteered at many church functions over the years. She also was a member of the DuBois YMCA, where she made many friends. She enjoyed family get-togethers and shopping for the best deals.

Mary Sue was a very kind and thoughtful person who never forgot a birthday or special occasion, no matter how large the family had become. She is survived by brothers, Kirby Hryn and wife Cathy of Clearfield, Patrick Hryn and wife Sandy of Rockton, John Hryn and wife Cindy of Grampian and Robert Hryn of Curwensville. She is also survived by nieces and nephews that she was very close to: Stephanie, Angie, Todd, Derek, Manda, Katie, Amber, Garrett and Nathan, as well as her 99 year old aunt, Mary Gaydos of Virginia, with whom she had a special bond.

She was preceded in death by her parents and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mass of Christian burial will be said at the St. Timothy Catholic Church, Curwensville, on Thursday at 10:30 AM with Fr. Steven Collins as celebrant. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Clearfield County Cancer Support Group, 610 Susquehanna Avenue, Curwensville, PA 16833 or to St. Timothy Catholic Church, 306 Walnut Street, Curwensville, PA 16833.
