Mary Lou Smeal

Mary Lou (Root) Smeal, 90, of Clearfield, went to meet her Lord on the afternoon of April 26, 2024.
Mary Lou was born the daughter of Forest J. Root and Bess (Barto) Root on November 17, 1933.
On September 20, 1952, Mary Lou married the love of her life, John D. Smeal in a ceremony at Pleasant Grove Church in Pike Township. A woman of faith, Mary Lou was a long-standing member of Centre Grove United Methodist Church.
Mary Lou enjoyed being a devoted housewife and mother, as well as working as a professional caregiver and employee at the former Clearfield Cheese Company in Curwensville. Later in life, she gained much pride and joy from the accomplishments of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Forest and Bess Root; her husband, John D. Smeal; a brother, John 'Jack' Root; a sister, Jean (Root) Lingle; a daughter, Denise (Smeal) Saudarg; and a son-in-law, Frank Gogley.
She is survived by a son, Darrell Smeal and wife Carolyn; a daughter, Deanna Arroyo and husband Julio; a daughter, Dana Gogley; and a son, Stacey Smeal and wife Meghan. Mary Lou is also survived by a granddaughter, Tiffany Shoffner and husband Adam; grandson, Cory McKinley and wife Chantel; grandson, Adam Smeal and wife Brittany; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Karns-Water and husband Alex. Great grandchildren, Jayden McKinley, Mya McKinley, Evan McKinley, Peyton McKinley, Josephine 'Joie' Shoffner, Olliver 'Ollie' Smeal, Sofia 'Sofie' Smeal, Anthony 'Ant' Shoffner and Finnegan 'Finn' Karns-Water also survive the deeply endeared 'Grammie' or 'Gram'
Family and Friends are invited to the memorial service celebrating the life of Mary Lou (Root) Smeal beginning at 11 AM on May 18, 2024 at the Centre Grove United Methodist Church, 1100 Village Road, Clearfield, PA 16830.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blair/Clearfield Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, 2612 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
