Matthew Andrew Thompson "Uncle Traveling' Matt", of Clearfield died on Saturday, July 9, 2022.

He was born on April 3, 1960 in Clearfield, a son of the late W. Barton 'Bart' and Elizabeth 'Bette' (Buck) Thompson.

Matt and his wife, Jo Ann, were married in 1985 and made their home in Clearfield until their recent move to York, PA.

Matt spent his lifelong career dedicated to the family business, 'Thompson and Buck, Inc.' with his father and brother. He and his wife also owned Jack's Distributing for 17 years.

Matt was a lover of nature, birding and hunting. He also enjoyed canoeing and had served as president for the Chinkalackamoose canoe club. Matt loved to travel with his wife, especially through Central America. He was also always well organized and enjoyed his time at camp 'Naughty Pine' where he would spend endless hours exploring mountain roads.

He belonged to the Outerbanks Beach Buggy club and also enjoyed surf fishing and the occasional skinny dip. He was also a former member of the Clearfield Elks Lodge, the Clearfield Curwensville Country Club and was involved in and looked forward to the Beauseigneur family reunion. He loved the movie, "Treasure of Sierre Madre". Matt was a man who truly enjoyed his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jo Anne (Donner) Thompson; a brother, Jeff Thompson and wife Linda (Evans); a sister, Kate Thompson; nephews, Jeff 'Buck' Thompson II and wife Melissa Thompson and Aaron Williams and wife Nikki; nieces, Jodi Thompson-Collins and Allison Cossick and husband Tommy; three great nephews and one great niece, who loved visits and eating Uncle Matt's venison jerky.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandfather, Frank C. Buck to whom he was greatly attached. He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Larry Moyer; his wife's parents, Harry and Rosemary Donner; a cat, Petey; and two dogs, Aldo and Boone.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
