Maurice E. Lezzer, 95, of Curwensville passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022 at his home.
He was born on September 12, 1926 in Curwensville, a son of the late Michael and Rose (Giai) Lezzer.
Maurice graduated from Curwensville High School in 1943. He then attended Penn State University for a year before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Lezzer then spent many years as the CEO of the Lezzer Lumber Company.
There were three things that he truly loved: family, business, and football. He was a big fan of Curwensville Golden Tide Football and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He attended every Super Bowl the Steelers played in. Mr. Lezzer enjoyed traveling, playing golf, spending time at camp, gardening, and watching his grandchildren play sports.
He was a long time member of the Curwensville School Board, and a member of the Midstate Bank Board and Lumberman's Merchandising Corporation Board. He was also a member of the Curwensville Lions Club, Clearfield SOI, Clearfield Curwensville Country Club, DuBois Country Club, and The Club at Ibis of West Palm Beach, FL.
Mr. Lezzer served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was part of the Navy Seabees.
He is survived by his four children, Cathie Wiggins, Michael Lezzer and wife Alicia, David Lezzer and wife Sharon, and Lisa Hahn and husband Kevin; his grandchildren, Jennifer Schwalm, Kathryn Miknis, Erin Chicone, Lara Wiggins, Brittany Sopic, Nicollette Lilly, Michael Lezzer, Dante Lezzer, Giana Lezzer, Kyle Hahn, Brandon Hahn, and Brett Hahn; and his great-grandchildren, Walker Schwalm, Maggie Schwalm, William Schwalm, Whitaker Schwalm, Hattie Schwalm, Chris Miknis, Olivia Miknis, Colin Miknis, Parker Chicone, Emma Chicone, Lucia Sopic, Esme Sopic, and Peter Lilly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ann (Foster) Lezzer on November 14, 2002 and whom he wed July 2, 1955. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth L. Lezzer.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. A public celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Curwensville is in charge of the arrangements.
