Merle Lanich

April 3, 1937 — June 22, 2011

Merle L. Lanich, 74, of Black Creek, NY, formerly of Clearfield, died on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.

He was born on April 3, 1937 in Clearfield, a son of the late William C. and Nellie Mae (Smith) Lanich.

Mr. Lanich retired as a foreman for Globe International Steel Products, Niagara Falls, NY after 44 years of service.
He was a life time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in New York. Mr. Lanich loved the outdoors, taking a keen interest in hunting. He also will be remembered as having a sincere passion for his career.
Mr. Lanich served with the United States Marines.

He is survived by five children, Debi Wigfield and husband Lucas of Chesapeake Bay, VA, Donna Innerst and husband Denny of Thomasville, David Lanich of Abbottstown, Richard Lanich of Batavia, NY and Kristin Martell and husband Thomas of Niagara Falls, NY; 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; a brother and two sisters, Edwin 'Skip' Lanich and wife Margaret of Clearfield, Judy Gardner and husband Jack of Clearfield and Joan Aveni and husband James of Clearfield and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Thomas B. and Leo H. Lanich.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Monday at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Roula Alkhouri officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW Posts’ Honor Guard.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4:00 PM and on Monday from 12-1 PM.
