Mildred White

Mildred P. White, 89, of Clearfield died on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at the Clearfield Hospital.

She was born on March 30, 1924 in Windber, a daughter of the late Daniel and Angela (O'Cepek) O'Shaben.

Mrs. White was employed as a Registered Nurse at the Clearfield Hospital for 40 years. She had also worked at the Clearfield Vocational and Technical School, Clearfield Area School District, and the American Red Cross. She was a graduate of the Windber Hospital School of Nursing in 1944 and served with the United States Army Nurses Corps during World War II. Mrs. White was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and the Rosary and Altar Society of the Church. She was also a member of the Clearfield Alumnae Nurses Association and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program at Clearfield. She volunteered at the Clearfield Hospital and St. Francis School.

She is survived by two children, Corrine Rubbe and husband William of Clearfield and Charles White and wife Dorie of Curwensville; five grandsons; two step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Leona Liskai and husband George of Gibsonburg, OH and Nancy Vasilko and husband John of Cleveland, OH; four brothers, John O'Shaben of Mentor, OH, Richard O'Shaben and wife Rose of Clearwater, FL, Jacob O'Shaben of Chicago, IL and Frank O'Shaben and wife Darlene of Portage; a brother-in-law Rodney White and wife Joanne of Marietta, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse M. White on June 18, 1988 and whom she wed May 30, 1946 in Winchester, WV.

Mass of Christian burial will be said at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Wednesday at 10 AM with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee, Jr. as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and on Wednesday from 9-9:30 AM.
A Christian Vigil Service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:45 PM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Saint Francis Educational Endowment Fund, 212 South Front Street Clearfield or to the Clearfield Hospital Alumnae Association, 809 Turnpike Avenue, Clearfield.
