Orrin L. Bortot, 94
of Clearfield died on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Clearfield Hospital.
He was born on January 4, 1916 in Beulah, a son of the late August and Myrtle (Rice) Bortot.
Mr. Bortot retired from Kurtz Brothers in 1982 after thirty eight years of service. He also was employed by Clearfield Borough for sixteen years as meter collector and repairman.
He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, the Knights of Columbus Clearfield Council 409, the Clearfield Fire Department and the County Fire Department.
He served in the US Army during World War II & saw duty in both the European & Pacific Theatres.
He is survived by his wife, Marion A. (Conklin) Bortot, whom he wed January 28, 1939 in Clearfield,
two daughters, Mary Helen Hipps and Margaret Ann Hand and both of Clearfield; six grandchildren, Christina Marie Hipps and husband Mike Rowles, Thomas Orrin Hipps, Edward V. Hand Jr. and wife Christine and Brian and Jason Hand, all of Clearfield and Elizabeth Cartwright and husband Don of Ramey; seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bortot was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son John Orrin Bortot, three brothers August Jr., Ralph and Joseph Bortot, a sister Nellie Pistilli and four infant sisters.
A Memorial Mass will be said at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Friday at 2 PM with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee, Jr. as celebrant.
At the request of Mr. Bortot, there will be no public visitation.
The Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield is in charge of arrangements.
