Orvis R. Gulich, Jr., 89, of Clearfield died on Friday, November 30, 2012 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.
He was born on July 21, 1923 in Clearfield, a son of the late Orvis and Nora (Carlson) Gulich.
Mr. Gulich was a 1941 graduate of Clearfield High School and a graduate of Penn State University in 1949. He had owned and operated Susquehanna Pheasantry, a game bird farm in West Decatur.
He was a member of Lake Street United Methodist Church, Woodland, the Executive Committee of Agricultural Extension, Clearfield County Farmers Association as well as serving as a 4-H leader.
Mr. Gulich was a veteran of the United States Army, serving with the 11th Airborne Division during World War II. He had tours of duty in the Philippines, New Guinea, Okinawa and mainland Japan. During his service with the Army, Mr. Gulich was a member of the percussion section in the Army Band.
He is survived by two sons Donald Gulich of West Decatur and Gregory Gulich and wife Sherry of Broken Bow, OK; three granddaughters Misty Green and husband Michael, Jennie Gulich and Elizabeth Evarts and husband Brian; four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret J. (McDowell) Gulich on August 13, 1990 and whom he wed September 14, 1948 in Clearfield; a sister Elizabeth J. McQuillen and two brothers Ashley R. and Gerald C. Gulich.
As per Mr. Gulich's wishes, there will be no public visitation or services.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Lake Street United Methodist Church, PO Box 102, Woodland, PA 16881.
