Owen J. "Ownie" Stewart, 82
of 182 Anderson Avenue, Curwensville died on Saturday, July 17, 2004 at the Altoona Hospital.
He was born on April 10, 1922 in Clearfield, PA, a son of the late Israel and Pearl (Jones) Stewart.
Mr. Stewart retired in 1980 after 30 1/2 years of service from the Hooker Chemical Company in Niagara Falls, NY. He had previously been employed by the tannery in Curwensville and by the Clearfield Cheese Company for several years. Mr. Stewart was a graduate of the former Williamsport College of Technology as an electrician. A 1941 Graduate of Curwensville High School, he played on the high schools first baseball team. He was a member of the Curwensville United Methodist Church.
Mr. Stewart served in the United States Army during World War II in the North African Theatre, Sicily, Italy, France and Germany.

and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (McClerin) Stewart on January 12, 1998 and whom he wed on August 31, 1974 in Niagara Falls, NY, four brothers, Chester, Glen, Herman, Melvin Mubby and four sisters, Lula Berry, Minnie Hightower, Geraldine Cales, and Leora Lynch.
Funeral services will be held at the Curwensville United Methodist Church on Friday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Arlene P. Beechert officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.
Military honors will be accorded at the graveside by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW Posts.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville on Thursday from 2-4:00 and 6-9:00 PM and on Friday at the Church from 10-11:00 AM.
