Paul Zendek, 54, of Kerrmoor, passed away Monday, May 15th.
Paul loved people, and those he met quickly moved from being "friends" to family. He was a giver, and freely shared his love of all things outdoors, gardening and cooking. A carpenter by trade, he enjoyed building birdhouses and feeders, trinket boxes, crates and other smaller items, giving more to others than he ever sold.
Born April 20, 1969 in Philipsburg, he was the son of Philip F. Zendek and Agnes (Smolko) Zendek, both deceased. He is survived by a brother, Philip Zendek, of Flinton; and two sisters, Margaret (Tom) Johnson of Irvona and Mary Ann (Dan) Webster of Mahaffey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his long-time companion Sandy Fink Barrett of Kerrmoor, stepdaughter Katrina Fink of Curry Run and step granddaughters, Savannah Fink of Curry Run and Kate Fink of Mahaffey; his honorary Aunt Shirley Wilson of Curwensville and his "not" sister-in-law Lilly Fink of Curwensville.
Although not affiliated with any church, Paul was close to several men from Zion Baptist Church of Ansonville and appreciated their friendship. He was also an honorary McGarry, often supervising their outdoor projects and instructing them on better ways to do things. Paul and his friends often solved the world's problems while visiting at the bridge next to Camp Pearl, even constructing a footbridge to make easier access for those needing it.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 27th at 4 pm at Paul's favorite place, the Kerrmoor Bridge. Please bring a chair. In lieu of flowers it is requested that contributions be made to the family or to the children's charity of the donor's choice.
Beardsley Funeral Home & Crematory, Curwensville is assisting with arrangements.
