Pauline W. "Polly" Smith, 93, of Clearfield died on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at the Clearfield Hospital.
She was born on September 29, 1913 in Woodland, a daughter of the late Edwin J. and Ida Mae Turner.
Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and in her younger years taught piano lessons. She also worked as a secretary for the late Attorney James Nevling.
She was the class of 1931 valedictorian of the Clearfield High School.
A member of St. John Lutheran Church, Clearfield, she was active in the choir and the Friendship Club. She was also a member of the Clearfield Womens Club and vary involved with the Clearfield Community Chest.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Ward L. Smith, whom she wed July 15, 1962; four children, John Troxell and wife Suzanne of Fleetwood, Dick Troxell and wife Judy of Clearfield, Karen Fry and husband Jeff of Manheim, Donna Greslick and husband Jeff of WI; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John M. Troxell in 1957, a sister and a half-sister.
Funeral services will be held at the St. John Lutheran Church, Clearfield on Friday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Matthew C. Holbert officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Thursday from 6-8:00 PM and at the church on Friday from 10-11:00 AM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. John Lutheran Church, 217 East Pine Street, Clearfield.
