Perry Lee Irwin, 64, of Clearfield passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, at Penn Highlands Clearfield.
He was born on September 4, 1958, in Clearfield, the first son of LeRoy and Joyce (Leigey) Irwin.
Perry graduated from Philipsburg-Osceola Senior High School in 1976 and briefly attended the Indiana University of Pennsylvania before returning home to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors. He began his professional career working with his Uncle Paul at Irwin Arco in 1977. Over the next 45 years, the business evolved and changed names a few times but his presence and eventual ownership remained a constant until his retirement, from Irwin Service Station, on April 30, 2022.
He was a congregant of the United Methodist Church and attended services with his family throughout his lifetime.
Perry was passionate about sports, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. This passion extended to local youth sports teams, where he spent many years as a volunteer coach. He was also an active outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting with his extended family.
Since 1979, Perry was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge #540.
He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, in-law, and friend.
Perry is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joan (Bailey) Irwin; his mother, Joyce Irwin Miller; three children, Jeremy Irwin and wife Lori, Kara McGuinn, and Briana Jury and husband Adam; eight grandchildren, Tristan Irwin, Brielle McGuinn, Irwin McGuinn, Porter McGuinn, Callan McGuinn, Ellis McGuinn, Karsyn Jury, and Easton Jury; a sister, Kim Keller and husband Gerry; and a brother, Dave Irwin and partner JoAnn Bear.
In addition to his father, LeRoy Irwin, he was also preceded in death by Lonnie Miller; maternal grandparents, Raymond and Grace (Keller) Leigey; and paternal grandparents, Roy and Irene (Coudriet) Irwin.
A Celebration of Life and Service of Death and Resurrection will be held at the Centre Grove United Methodist Church, Clearfield on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Brenda K. Leigey officiating. Following the service, the family invites you to gather in the fellowship hall for a luncheon.
Additionally, friends and family will be received at the church on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, from 4-8 PM and Thursday June 15, 2023, from 10 AM until the time of services.
