Phyllis M. Shifter, 82

of Clearfield died on Monday, June 20, 2011 at Clearfield Hospital.

She was born on October 18, 1928 in Wilcox, a daughter of the late Merle Harvey and Cecilia (Deal) Bowley.

Mrs. Shifter was employed at the former Kent Sportswear.
She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield and she enjoyed cooking, gardening and sewing.

She was the last member of her immediate family.

She is survived by two children, Thomas Shifter and wife Beth of Clearfield and Cecilia Olson of Clearfield; five grandchildren, Brad Shifter, Rich Olson, Dana Feihl and husband Mark, Joe Olson and wife Dena, Jamie Kephart and husband Duane; three great grandchildren, Lindsey, Lauren, Duane Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Doryce L. Shifter in 1986 and whom she married October 30, 1948 in Holy Cross Catholic Church, Rasselas, PA, a son-in-law, Benjamin Olson, three sisters, Delia Shimmel, Kathleen Bowley Mills and Jane Kitko, and two brothers, George Bowley and Joseph Bowley, Sr.

Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Wednesday at
10:00 A.M. with Msgr. Henry L. Krebs as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Tuesday from 6-8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 9-9:30 AM

A Christian Vigil Service will be held at the Funeral home on Tuesday at 5:45 PM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Arthritis Foundation - Central PA Chapter, PO Box 668, Camp Hill PA 17011.
