Raymond 'Paul' Martell Jr., 84, of Frenchville died on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Penn Highlands Clearfield.
He was born on April 9, 1939 in Philipsburg, a son of the late Raymond 'Pete' Sr. and Eleanor (Jarrett) Martell.
Mr. Martell worked as a coal truck driver and mechanic for most of his life. He had been employed by Edmonds Contracting, Al Hamilton Contracting, and Mark Stiner's Garage. In his spare time, he enjoyed the outdoors while riding four wheelers, hunting, and fishing. He also was fond of watching Western movies and TV shows. Mr. Martell was a lifetime member of the LeContes Mill Volunteer Fire Co., having served as fire chief for several years.
He is survived by three children, Danny Martell of FL, Randy Martell and wife Evelyn of Frenchville, and Melanie Humberson and husband Frank of Frenchville; a brother, William Ray 'Billy' Martell and wife Maria of Erie; his companion, Charlene Buck; ten grandchildren, Bethany Martell, Raymond Martell IV, Jamie Eddy, Danny Martell, Jr., Brittany Martell, Isaac Martell, Kimberly Martell, Randy Martell Jr., Shane Humberson, and Taylor Humberson; and fourteen great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. (Oswalt) Martell on December 6, 2006 and whom he wed September 22, 1958 in Surveyor. He was also preceded in death by son, Raymond 'Butch' Martell III on June 16, 2021; three brothers, Jimmy, Johnny, and Larry Martell; and two daughters-in-law, Annette Martell and Bebe Martell.
Funeral services will be held at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Clearfield on Wednesday at 11 AM with Rev. Paul Sheets officiating. Interment will be in the Gillingham Cemetery, Frenchville.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8 PM and on Wednesday from 10-11 AM.
