Rebecca Irene Korb, age 97, of Dale Road, Woodland PA, passed away during the early morning hours Thursday, July 14, 2022 at her loving son, Richard Korb’s residence.
Irene, as she was most known as, was born June 9, 1925 in Gearhartville, PA the daughter of the late John and Alma (Griffin) Perks of Philipsburg, PA and a 1943 graduate of Philipsburg High School. On Palm Sunday, April 10, 1949, she married the late, Harvey William Korb of Bigler, PA in the Evangelical United Brethren Church of Philipsburg, PA officiated by Rev. John C. Stoner. He preceded her in death on December 19, 1999.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers Enoch and Raymond, sisters Eleanor (Theodore) Kephart of Houtzdale, PA, Byrl Perks and Dorothy (Donald) Shoff of Philipsburg, PA.
After graduation she worked for five years at the Daily Journal newspaper in Philipsburg, was a Green Thumb Volunteer at the Clearfield County Public Library Federation in Curwensville during the 1980’s and a housewife for many years. She was a member of the Dale United Methodist Church. She crocheted over 100 baby lap quilts made for St. Christopher's Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia, PA for her grand-daughter.
Irene is survived by three daughters, Shirley (Bernard) Danko of Duncannon, PA, Diane Pellerite (Lester) Whitaker, of Beech Creek, PA, Patricia (Walter) Williams of Morrisdale, PA, three sons Raymond of Fairbanks, AK, Richard (Tracey) of Woodland, PA and Terry of Morrisdale PA., 17 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Honoring Irene's wishes, there will be no public services. She will be laid to rest at Styers Cemetery formerly Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde, PA.
