Rebekah Jane Varner, 90
of Woodland died on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Ridgeview Elder Care and Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville.
She was born on January 4, 1920 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late William J. and Margaret J. (Davis) Brown.
Mrs. Varner was employed at McCrory's, Kurtz Stationary Store, Leitzingers and JCPenney department stores, retiring in 1982.
She was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, Woodland and the Woodland Senior Citizens.
She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Merritt and husband John of Woodland and Gretchen Duck and husband Jerome of Boalsburg; five grandchildren, Vicki Trinidad and husband Terry, Michael Merritt and wife Amy, Pamela Hoover and husband Michael Chad, Cari Zelko and Richard Duck; eight great grandchildren; a sister and two brothers, Caroline Bietz of West Chester, Frederick Brown of Duboistown and Kenneth Brown of Montoursville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin E. Varner on April 27, 1997 and whom she married August 19, 1940 in Bethesda, MD, a brother John Brown and a sister Margaret Griffith.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Saturday at 2 P.M. with Pastor Sean Patrick Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 1-2 PM.
