Richard A. 'Dick' Bell, 94, of Clearfield died on Friday, April 9, 2021 at his home.
He was born on May 13, 1926 in Clearfield, a son of the late F. Cortez and Emily (Gaulin) Bell.
Mr. Bell was a 1943 graduate of Clearfield High School. He continued his education and graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1951. He began his Law practice in 1951 and had continued to practice until the last few years.
He was a very active member of The Presbyterian Church, Clearfield, having become a member at the age of 12. He has served as an elder on the session board for several terms and also as a trustee and deacon. He was also a member of the Clearfield Rotary and the Clearfield American Legion.
Mr. Bell served with the U. S. Army during World War II, achieving the rank of Second Lieutenant Infantry.
He survived by his wife, Suzanne M. (Wise) Bell whom he married in 1997; four children, Steven Bell and wife Betsy of Annapolis, MD, Lawrence Bell and wife Mary Kay of State College, David Bell and wife Christine of Clearfield, Daniel Bell and wife Lonnie of Clearfield; two step children, Mitchell G. Leech and wife Jodi of Connoquenessing and Stephanie Chudy of Clarksville, TN; ten grandchildren, Maggie Bell-Walker and husband Ben, Katie Bell-Miller and husband Logan, Emily Bell, Matthew Bell and wife Megan, Megan Bell, Lauren Gutierrez and husband Mario, Alyssa Burtchin and husband Adam, Curtis Bell, Craig Bell and Jason Bell; four step grandchildren, Alexis and Taylor Leech, and Daria and Alexander Chudy; and six great grandchildren, Holden, Grey, Christopher, Alessandra, Sophie and Asher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Marjorie (Keast) who died in 1985; and two brothers, F. Cortez Bell, Jr. and Thomas G. Bell.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
