Richard Boyle

Richard L. 'Dick' Boyle, 89, of Clearfield died on Monday, September 4, 2023 at his home.

He was born on November 23, 1933 in Clearfield, a son of the late Frank and Hilma (Johnson) Boyle.

Mr. Boyle graduated in 1951 from Clearfield High School. He enlisted in the Army in 1954 and served as instructor at the US Army Europe Signal School in Germany. After active duty, he continued his service through the National Guard and Army Reserves for several years. Upon his returned to Clearfield, Mr. Boyle was employed by Penelec for over 42 years, retiring as Chief Field Tester.

He was a member of Mount Joy United Methodist Church, Clearfield. He was a manager and past president of the Clearfield Little League, past officer of I.B.E.W. Union, Cub Scout leader, past officer at West Side United Methodist Church and a life time member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge #540, Clearfield.

He is survived by his wife, Hope H. (Carns) Boyle whom he wed March 25, 1961; two children, David Boyle and wife Cathy of Willoughby, OH, and Susan Williams of Clearfield; a son-in-law, Dr. Richard Williams of Clearfield; three grandchildren, Alexander Boyle of Los Angeles, CA, Emily Williams of Clearfield, and Elizabeth Williams of Clearfield; and a sister, Dorothy Ogden of Clearfield.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Madeline Mann, Sara Sherwin, Ruth Derrick, and Donna Dodge.

Funeral services will be held at the Mount Joy United Methodist Church, Clearfield on Saturday at 11 AM with Rev. Kenneth J. Leonard and Pastor Clare Pannebaker officiating. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Military honors will be accorded at the church by the Clearfield Honor Guard

Friends will be received at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Clearfield on Friday from 6-8 PM and at the church on Saturday from 10-11 AM.
