Richard P. Hipps, 69 of Clearfield died on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at his residence.
He was born on October 5, 1939 in DuBois, a son of the late John E. and Lorana (Hallock) Hipps.
Mr. Hipps owned and operated Dick Hipps' Auto Body for 42 years, retiring in 2001.
He was Protestant by faith and served in the US Army Reserves MP Corps.
He is survived by two children,

Deborah Lansberry and husband Jim of Luthersburg
two grandsons,
Travis Smith and Brandon Hipps
three step grandsons,
Joshua, Shannon and Brennon Lansberry
four step great grandchildren,
four sisters and a brother,
Barbara Lewis and husband Thomas of St. Marys
Meryln Knepp and husband Gerald of Loudon, TN
Janice Rowles and husband Donald of Clearfield
Jackie Anderson and husband Brian of Frenchville
John Hipps and wife Rhonda of Mifflinville
and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou (Cowher) Hipps on on April 22, 2005 and whom he married November 10, 1961 in West Decatur, a son Richard P. Hipps, Jr., a sister, Susan Lynne Hipps and a brother William Hipps.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Mount Joy United Methodist Church, Clearfield on Saturday February 7, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Kenneth J. Leonard officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Joy Cemetery.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Clearfield Foundation for Health - Hospice, PO Box 992, Clearfield or to the American Cancer Society, 26 S. Second Street, Clearfield.
