Richard Nelson

Richard M. Nelson, 84, of Clearfield died on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born on April 19, 1928 in Clearfield, a son of the late A.I. and Pearl (Miller) Nelson.

Mr. Nelson was employed all of his life at Kurtz Brothers, Clearfield where he retired as an accountant. In his spare time, Mr. Nelson enjoyed hiking and biking.
He attended St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield and was a former treasurer of the Old Town Sportsmen's Club, Clearfield.
Mr. Nelson served in Korea with the U. S. Army.

He is survived by his wife Ruth Nelson of Clearfield; two children Rick Nelson and wife Ann Hewitt of Cambridge, MA and Amy Miles and husband David of Port Huron, MI; a step son, Joseph E. Beauseigneur and wife Pamela of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren Jeffrey Miles, Elizabeth Connor and husband Michael and Christopher Nelson; four sisters, Shirley Lansberry, Jane Shugarts and husband Maxwell, Ruth Bock and husband William and Carol Catherman and husband James; two brothers Eldon Nelson and Kenneth Nelson and wife Betty; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Jean 'Sue' (Senser) Nelson on April 19, 1999. He was also preceded in death by a sister Ella Mae Lindvall; and two brothers, Willard and Sherman Nelson.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Wednesday at 11:00 am.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 10-11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society,1501 Reedsdale Street, Suite 105, Pittsburgh, PA 15233 or the American Red Cross, 109 N. Brady Street, Suite 2, DuBois, PA 15801.
